With her background in personal training and strong research foundation in advanced orthopedics, Dr. Heidi Tinter is able to apply her passion for movement analysis to help you attain your goals! She began her career as a personal trainer in 2001, soon after becoming a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and certified Pilates Instructor and continues to teach Pilates. She enjoys using the Pilates principles and movements in her treatment plans and feels the mind-body connection is an important part of healing. She takes the time to get to know each of her patients to carefully craft a plan of care tailored specifically to their needs.
Heidi graduated with honors from Columbia University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. During her final year, she studied advanced Orthopedics and began working with a team to develop a research project focusing on imaging the abdominal wall with Ultrasound and she continues to participate today.
Heidi’s passion for athletics and fitness began when she was younger with competitive figure skating and downhill skiing. She’s also nationally ranked in USA women’s saber fencing and ranked 14th in Division 1 collegiate fencing. Heidi also enjoys running and she has completed a half marathon in all five New York boroughs! Heidi’s enthusiasm for travel and interest in other cultures led her to Istanbul, Turkey for two years where she helped to open a fitness company and Pilates studio. While she’s stateside, she enjoys hiking with her husband and dog, Cosette, and can be found somewhere on a mountain in the Hudson Valley, where she’s from, at least once a week. Heidi also loves to swim, garden, explore new places with her family, and support dog rescues!
