Dr. Emily Dodd’s expertise spans both the orthopedic and pediatric physical therapy specialty areas of physical therapy. Her dedication to her patients shines each day through her approach to their care, and she takes extra time with each patient to truly listen and understand what they really want out of their physical therapy sessions. In addition to her strong research base in the orthopedic field, Emily is passionate about working with infants and children. She has extensive experience with early intervention programs, has worked in the Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic County school districts, and connects easily with a wide range of ages. Dr. Dodd is Certified in Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen (FMSC) and is actively pursuing her Board Certifications in both Pediatrics and Orthopedics.
Emily earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, and then graduated from Rutgers School of Health Related Professions (formerly UMDNJ) with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. While at Rutgers, Emily was the Vice President of the Student Physical Therapy Association and also led the organization’s Professional Development Committee. Dr. Dodd has done extensive research on the effects of various types of hip surgeries on patients’ walking abilities, and presented her group’s results at the American Physical Therapy Association’s annual national conference.
Emily enjoys going to the gym, running and relaxing her mind, body, and spirit with yoga — and her favorite pastime of all is traveling. Two of her most-loved destinations are Punta Cana and Madrid, though the Jersey Shore will always have her heart. When she stays local, Emily loves spending time in Manhattan. She always makes time for football too, you’ll be pleased to know she’s a loyal Giants fan! Emily recently got engaged and she and her fiance will be married in June. They just purchased their first home in Glen Rock, NJ where they will reside after completing renovations. Emily loves to fill her house with the delicious scent of homemade baked goods, and is working on filling her recipe book — she welcomes any ideas to expand her cooking repertoire!
